In 1994, after the recent peace talks, the Palestinian National Authority has been established on parts of the Palestinian occupied territories. Palestine reappeared in the philately after 27 years of absence when the Palestinian National Authority issued its first post stamps in 1994. Since this authority is an autonomy and not yet an independant state, the stamps are labeled "Palestinian Authority" and not "Palestine".

Notice that the value of these stamps is in "Mils" or Millims, the smallest unit of the old Palestinian currency who ceased to exist in 1948. (1 Palestinian Pound = 1000 Millims). This was made in the hope that the Palestinian Authority will issue again this currency.

 

1995 Flags. Stamps of 1994 with new currency unit.

In 1995, the Palestinian currency was not yet issued, so all the stamps of 1994 have been issued with a black dash on the word "Mils" which was replaced by a "Fils" in silver. The "Fils" is the smallest unit of the Jordanian currency (1 Jordanian Dinar = 1000 Fils). See bellow.

1995 Stamps of Palestine (1927-45).

This stamp may have been forbidden from use by the Isreali authorities. Many letters with this stamp arrived with a sticker completely hiding the stamp and the inscription "Postage Paid". Bellow is a part of letter with the stamp partially uncovered.
